We hand selected a single barrel from our Liminal Spaces run that spent 12 months in Bulleit Bourbon single barrel oak, then aged it an additional 6 months in a 7-year Cathead Old Soul Bourbon tin series barrel. Aged 18 months in 2 different bourbon barrels, this barleywine is a showcase of our attention to detail and love for our craft.

Double Barrel Liminal Spaces was a very limited release in May 2022 at the SoPro Taproom on draft and in black-waxed 16.9-oz. bottles in advance of SoPro's 9th Anniversary Party. Had poured from black-waxed 16.9-oz. bottle into snifter.
Pours apparently black but deep, almost black whiskey brown when backlit, with apparent clarity and less than 1/2-finger tan head, that quickly drops to a thin ring, which itself soon drops away, leaving only a few specks of lace. Aromas of whiskey and toffee off the pour, then piney hops and citrusy fruits join, but the continuing aromas are whiskey and toffee, and finally a little vanilla and dark bread. On tasting, begins sweet and malty, balanced by more than a little piney hop bite up front, followed by some fruit, oaky vanilla, rye bread and a bit of hop spice, all over a very creamy, toffee body, then moderate bourbon whiskey kicks in, carrying the lot into a rather sticky, somewhat warming finish.
More whiskey than single-barrel OG Liminal Spaces, Double Barrel is ultimately a candied alcoholic dessert treat.
