Hype Barrel Racks 2.0 was released on Black Friday 2022 at the SoPro Taproom on draft and in green waxed 16.9-oz. bottles. Had poured from like bottle into snifter.
Pours absolutely black with 1/2-finger dark tan head, which dissipates to a persistent ring, and leaves only a few specks of lace down the glass. Aromas of Maris Otter barley, sweet bourbon and big, nutty malt off pour, then pastry shell and increasing chocolate aromas as warms. On tasting, begins with a little biting whiskey and more sweet vanilla, over a big, thick body, then, as warms, increasing chocolate, and eventually ice cream sweetness, which together carry into a substantial but, surprisingly, not that sticky, dessert sweet, chocolate and increasingly noticeable bourbon finish.
Not sure how this mashup of resort ice cream bar ingredients works as a beer, but it does: a dessert (beer) with whiskey sauce topping.
