East Mountain Hermit was a small batch release in Aug. 2023 (only) at the SoPro Taproom, on draft and in 12-oz. twistee crowlers (reminiscent of the old cone top beer cans). Had poured from 12-oz. twistee crowler, no date but filled 09/23/2023 at the Taproom, into Teku tulip 3.0.
Pours slightly-cloudy, light yellow-gold, with 1/2- to 1-finger near-white head, which soon drops to nothing, and leaves no lace. Aromas of grass, sweet citrus and pineapple off pour, then more tart and tropical aromas, and finally growing wine grape aroma as warms. On tasting, begins extremely dry and wine-like, except for the noticeably but barely malty, beer-like body, with some pineapple, and then a little lime and mild orange citrus bite, leading into a mouth-filling, crisp, rather Vouvray-like finish.
Wonderfully aromatically fruity beer as dry, Loire Valley sparkling white wine.
