Hefeweizen is Gemütlichkeit is a new beer and dabbles in a style we normally don’t do. We kept the clove in check and went heavy on the banana for this hefe. Throw an orange slice on and it’s prime drinking time.

Hefeweizen is Gemütlichkeit was released at SoPröst (Oktoberfest) 2023 (only) in the SoPro Taproom on draft and in pint 4-pks., and again in Sept. 2024. Had poured from pint can, bottom stamped "CANNED BY JOHN" on "09/21/23," into pilsner glass.
Pours straw gold with clarity and 1/2- to 1-finger near-white head, which dissipates to a persistent partial film, leaving some sketchy lace down the glass. Aroma of sweet malt, herbal noble hops and mild banana off pour, all continuing, with a little clove and tart fruit as warms. On tasting, begins creamy malt and big banana, over buoyant carbonation, with a little clove late, and a little tart fruit even later, all carrying into an herbally bitter finish.
Missing the expected cloudiness in 2023 but not 2024, but that's quibbling anyway, as this beer delivers lots of banana, balanced by a little clove and noble hop bite, making for a clean hefe.
