We took the softer grain bill from the DDH Crowd Control and hopped it at our normal rate, then dosed in a complementary helping of mango puree. Kissed with a pinch of lactose to round it all off.
Limited release as the March 2024 small batch series.

Limbo, part of the small batch series, was released on 03/09/2024 at the SoPro Taproom and then in limited Mississippi markets on draft and in pint can 4-pks. Had Limbo poured from pint can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on "02/27/24," into nonic pint.
Pours cloudy gold, with huge off-white head, which has great retention and leaves thick rings of lace down the glass. Burst of hop spice aroma off pour, then big sweet citrus aroma joins, with some melon and pine aromas and eventually dank notes arriving as warms. On tasting, begins sweet melon and berries, and a little early piney bite, with a full, slightly sticky mouthfeel, carrying over mild malt into sweet grapefruit, and then into what would be a big, bitter, resinous piney finish, if it weren't moderated by the sweet fruit and added lactose, for a still very crisp, fruity finish.
Limbo reminds me of the initial, one-off release of Crowd Control, when the hop bill would curl your ear hair, but with some fruit and a little lactose added for balance. But a huge beer is still huge, even if it's been tuned up for prime time.
