My main man, a local, in-person trader, tone77, hooked me up with this CAN in furtherance of The CANQuest (tm)! He is a great trader and brings me beers that I might otherwise overlook or even find. Many thanks and I have some CANs for you on our next meet-up!
From the CAN: "Aluminum [CAN]s make cool Christmas ornaments". Indeed.
I am sorry to see that the brewery is marked as "Closed", but I will happily add this beer to The CANQuest (tm)! it always begins with the Crack! which in this case was nice and loud. It was a brimful CAN which gave me a finger of foamy, tawny head with moderate retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 14, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose gave off a fusel alcohol heat, masking the underlying pine hops. Mouthfeel was medium. The flavor was initially hot, giving 'way to a sharp bitterness, very hoppy, but totally unbalanced. I am a dyed-in-the-wool hophead, but this was just too bitter right out of the gate. The finish was dry, bitter, slightly sour. Oof. My regrets on the brewery's demise, but if they resurrect, they need to explore this recipe further.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a dark golden color/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, some citrus hops. Taste is well balanced. Well, actually, while present, I think the hops take a back seat to the malts. Very little bitterness at all, almost drinks more like an English IPA. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer. However, a hop bomb is expected with this style, and this certainly is not one. So I had to lower the overall grade by .75 because of this.
