Twas time to switch it up, like four pilsners in a row, let's crossover to ales. This was the fifth beer consumed at this place after a morning of disc golf. I like the motif. The goose, classic.
Pours gold and pale like the namesake. 1/2" off white head. The aroma has a grassy hop interior. Doesn't smell like anything too new regarding proprietary hops, guessing Amarillo. The commercial tug job is all about hops, but much like many Texas beers, hops aren't their elite tier territory.
The taste is interesting, they went crystal and pilsner malt. I dunno, seems like you get a combo of pale malt, but I guess more ingredients to some people = complexity. This was a totally serviceable beer, but complex it was not, nor should a pale ale really lean that way. Hits a mild 40 ibu level bitterness but isn't hazy. Turn the bass, turn the treble, like a Texas rock-a-billy rebel.
So again, another middling beer, but still prefer their lagers to this so far.

Not as spectacular as the German pils, but still a nice tasting brew.
Not that impressive in the glass, but then looks ain't everything.
The aroma os subdued, but sweet and a little grainy. Flavor is mellow and refreshing, whilst still having a fairly complex hop taste.
Overall it's pretty good, and nice after a long day in the sun

an objectively excellent american pale ale, light on the grain, fresh and bright on the hops, super dry and drinkable, but nothing really new or exciting here, maybe a little more delicate overall than the style has trended lately, but this is squarely in line with what we all expect from an american pale, its the freshness, the crisp finish, and the high carbonation on top of the light body that make it so appealing to me. i was literally dying from the heat when we rolled in here, and this is nicely refreshing, almost a session ipa type in a way, low alcohol and simple on the grain side, without the obvious use of any crystal or caramel type grains, just a simple pale base, fermented to dry with an essentially flavorless ale yeast, not rocket science, but a good awareness of time and place, and the hop profile is great. plenty of fresh sliced citrus without a lot of bitterness, orange and grapefruit, but not too heavy on the dry hop, stays clean, even noble-esque for a second. i did the big spritz of carbonation that washes down each sip, and i like how i can just sit here and pound on this without getting too buzzed up or full. nice pale, simple, but sometimes thats best. very enjoyable beer.
