Draft at the brewery
Light fizzy head, fair retention, a bit of lacing, clear copper color
Nose slight sweet malt, hint of toffee and sweet bread, little biscuity, light floral hop
Taste fair sweetness, biscuity toasted malt, a hint of caramel toffee but not much, touch of bread crust, light herbal hop, dry finish, med hop bitterness
Mouth is med bod, med carb
Overall pretty good for American Marzen, not a bunch of caramel candy sweetness, well balanced

On tap into a pint glass
A - Nice 2 finger head that is off white in color and frothy. Head dissipates fairly slowly. Beer is clear with an orangish amber hue. Low carbonation based on appearance. 4/5
S - Very simple aroma profile of a sweet caramel malt and grassy hops. Not a complicated Marzen, just nice and simple. 4/5
T - Sweet caramel malt comes out right away, as it should, followed by white bread, and buttered biscuit. Grassy hops form the very back end of things alongside a green apple finish. Very malt forward overall, typical of the style. 3.75/5
M - Low carbonation which results in a nice smooth Marzen offering. Medium bodied with a bit of drying on the back end which was somewhat unexpected. 3.75/5
O - Malt forward and medium bodied just like a Marzen should be however the drying astringency and green apple finish threw me off a bit. Good simple offering here that reflects the style nicely with a couple of unexpected quirks. 3.75/5
