a honeycrisp apple sour, not perfectly refined, but pretty good, and at this low abv and with the fresh fruit profile, it hits the mark pretty well. not exactly a berliner, but definitely a kettle sour, with a quick and hot lacto souring evident, moderately clean, just a little funky residuals, but such a light beer that the apple jumps out and covers any imperfections rather well. its mostly clear and golden in color, thin looking and without a lot of head after the initial pour, but the nose and taste are solid, with a crisp clean apple complexion, sweet and tart at the same time, rightly accented by the puckery sourness, not too acidic to be enjoyable for the whole glass, but drying and sharp for sure. the apple is fresh and natural and juicy even in here, the skin and the flesh alike influencing the flavor and the feel. i like it being so minimal on the grain and on the alcohol, it makes it really summery and delicate feeling for being as flavorful as it is. in our experience it was the lagers that these guys did best, but this was a creative and refreshing sour that showcases the apples really nicely! more bubbles would be awesome, even a little more body from some grain, but still, this was tasty.
