On tap at the brewery's gastropub in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Appearance. The body is essentially black and opaque in the glass, and came topped by a tan head that has good retention.
While the aroma leans hop heavy, as does the flavor despite ample dark malts. Some dark bread, dark chocolate and coffee notes linger in the aftertaste.

I tried this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight whilst there with my cousins. It poured a nearly opaque rich amber with thin off white ring head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had bold roasty notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to sip with semi sweet caramel malt base with roast and grain presence. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Appearance: totally black; pillowy dark khaki head that hangs around
Aroma: dark malt; chocolate; sweet; coffee; hints of smokiness
Taste: starts a little earthy actually; some sweetness; moves into a nice malt backbone with some coffee, chocolate, and roasty flavors; this carries through the finish; a return of some of that earthiness on the back and in the aftertaste
Mouthfeel: smooth; creamy; medium bodied
Overall Impression: I like this; the earthy flavors caught me off guard, but I think work well--not what I was expecting from a porter in general, but I didn't pick any of that up in the nose (though I did just smoke a pipe, so my nose may not be too sharp!); in any case it pairs really well with a rich, smoky pipe tobacco

Pours a dark, dark brown with a finger of khaki head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma is earthy, biscuity malts. Flavor profile is earth, biscuit, toasted, and nutted malts. A hint of pine hops buried between the malts. Mouth feel is fizzy, and slightly watery, in a medium thickness. Overall, a straight forward porter that delivers on malt notes.
Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.

Black in color with minimal light penetration. There's a fingernail of khaki on top. The aroma is dominated by cocoa. Looks like a porter. Smells like a brown ale. The taste is comprised of sweet cocoa and dark malt. The mouth is a bit thin and lightly watery.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of chocolate, coffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate and toffee taste with coffee-like bitterness.

From a twelve ounce can, this brew is a soundly dark beer with a dark cream colored head. The aroma is classic porter... coffee notes, richly roasted, nutty, and deep. The beer is balanced, if not just tilted dry. The finish is firmly bitter, with a lot of roasted lingering flavor. It's an old-school porter. Very good.
