American Stout Brewed with 6 different Malts, Oats, Lactose for a silky mouthfeel and horizon hops to complement the earthy, spicy, undertones of the ale. We used 100% Mexican Chocolate, Guajillo and Ancho Chili’s in the boil along with cinnamon and habaneros in the conditioning tank for a cold soak to top all off with 6 gallons of espresso beans.

12 oz can; canned about a year ago.
I had this with friends with a number of other stouts (Including Xocoveza), and we all seemed to agree that the spicy heat on the finish was impressive. A bit dry for me; sometimes adding stevia to beer helps with the dryness.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, deep black color with a large brown head of foam. It smelled of cinnamon, chillies, chocolate and coffee. Nice spicy heat up front with chocolate and coffee in the background. Good roasty notes, too.

Pours black with a finger of caramel head. Head retention is okay with a few strands of lacing left behind. Aroma is biscuit, bread, earthy, and nutted malts. Light notes of chocolate, and chili pepper. Flavor profile is biscuit, bread, and earthy malts. Emphasis on the latter. Chocolate and chili pepper are throughout, with the chili peppers lingering for a long time. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a fine grainy, floury texture. Overall, a fair stout with an interesting finish.
Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a snifter.
Dark in appearance with a half inch of mocha colored head.
The smell of peppers is present, but not overpowering.
Taste is chocolaty with a mild spicy mouthfeel.
Feel is thin and too light for the style.
Overall I enjoyed the beer, but not one of my favorites in the style.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 10/17/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, chili peppers, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and pepper notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, chili peppers, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild roast/char bitterness and cinnamon/pepper spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, chili peppers, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and pepper flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet and cinnamon/pepper spice balance; with zero acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Minimal lingering pepper heat. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an awesome Mexican spiced stout! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and pepper flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/spicy finish. Nicely rich for the ABV. The balance between stout, spice, and coffee is pretty much perfect. A really enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example.

This was an absolutely flat, tasteless beer. All acid, no depth.
