I picked up a can of Latitude 42's Flint Firebirds Golden Ale for $2.39 at The Lager Mill. It's been a little while since I've had a new beer from this brewery and I'm interested to see what they can do with this Golden Ale, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a 12oz can into a imperial pint glass.

A- The can looks good, it's got a good design that goes very well with the name. It poured a nice golden yellow color that didn't really change colors when much when held to the light and it had a little over half a fingers worth of creamy off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left some spotty lacing behind. This is a good looking beer, it's just what I expect from the style.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the doughy yeast being the first to show up and it imparts a doughy aroma and it leads into the malts which impart some creamy malty aromas with some pale malt, grainy, bready, bread crust and light biscuit likes aromas. Towards the end comes a little bit of hops which impart a herbal, and slightly grassy hop aromas. This beer has a nice aroma, it's pretty standard for the style.

T- The taste seems to be very similar to the aroma and it starts of with a medium amount of sweetness with that some doughy yeast still being the first to show up and it imparts that same doughy aspect and it goes into the malts which show up just as much as they did in the aroma and they impart all the same aspects with the grainy and bready malty seeming to stick out the most and there's a little bit of creaminess in the background. Towards the end comes the hops which impart the same light hops aspects that they did in the aroma and they show up just as much as they did in the aroma. On the finish there's a pretty lighter amount of medium bitterness with a slightly herbal, grassy hop and a very malty aftertaste. This is a nice tasting Golden Ale, it's pretty standard for the style.

M- Smooth, a little crisp, a little creamy, on the very light side of being medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a nice beer and solid example of the style, it had all the key aspects that I look for in the style and nothing seemed out to be out of place. This beer has good drinkability, I could drink a few but I might start to get bored with it. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and how true to style it is, those are the highlights of this beer. What I like the least about this beer is that it didn't have just a little more hop flavors to help balance out all those malts. I might buy this again if I was in the mood fo drink some lighter beer and I would recommend to anyone looking for the same. All in all I liked this beer, but i didn't love it, there wasn't much anything bad about it, but it didn't have anything that really it makes it stand out. It's not a favorite beer from this brewery and it's a solid example of the style. Nice job guys, this is a solid Golden Ale, keep it up.
