Thanks to for this 16 oz. can, arriving as an extra in a recent trade. First sip of this brewery.
Black beer begets coffee, with a bit of sweetness & cocoa on the nose. Gentle.
South Pacific Imperial Breakfast Porter is harsher than my eternal judgment of Nick Punto. The beer is covered liberally in harsh, bitter coffee. There might be a touch of coconut or cocoa, but there might not be either. Rough.
Tastes like cheap, slightly stale coffee, & little else. Bad beer.

Extra in a trade and not impressed. Never had anything from the brewery before and in addition to it being a "meh" beer. They actually put what appeared to be a shrink wrap label over a can for their "Bubba Kolsch" to can the beer.

Snagged a single for about 3 bucks into a regular pint.
A - Quite a dark shade a brown but pretty light for an imperial. Head is a fairly good shade of cocoa goodness.
S - Cocoa and coffee mostly maybe a slight hint of coconut flesh. Roasty and creamy.
T - Taste on the other hand is more porter than coffee very faint taste of actual coffee just roast and toasted coconut flesh. Cocoa is very dry with semi sweet vanilla hint but more dry and herbal finish.
M - Quite good for the Abv drinks fairly smooth.
Overall A pretty tasty porter but wouldn't really call it a coffee porter more cocoa and coconut.

Good but not great. Very faint smell of toasted coconut, coffee and cocoa . Nice big fat lingering head with tons lacing that clings to the glass all the way to the very end of the pint .Taste way better than the smell indicates. Overall a solid porter , will definitely be buying this one again.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/20/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big toasted coconut, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, coconut, cocoa, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big toasted coconut, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, peppery hops; and roast, charred, coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of toasted coconut, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, herbal, pepper, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coconut, cocoa, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a nice roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium-plus carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Mildly increasing warmth of 8.4% after the finish. Overall this is a delicious flavored American imperial porter. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, coconut, cocoa, coffee, and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to drink for the ABV; with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Was just a bit too bitter/charred/drying than preferred, but not overwhelming. Great balance of rich malt complexity, coconut, cocoa, and coffee flavorings; with balancing earthy hops against sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on American style example.

16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a fluffy khaki head that slowly falls leaving great thick retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are malt forward. The malts are sweet. Some sweet coconut along with some cocoa. The coffee doesn't really come through in the aroma department. The flavors are definitely on the sweeter side. More coconut and cocoa. The coffee is pretty hard to pick up in the flavor department as well. Low bitterness. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's extremely fluffy and smooth.
I'm personally not too crazy about this one. The coffee doesn't really come through and it's pretty sweet due to the coconut.
