Crisp and refreshing with a pronounced and slightly sweet malt backbone, this Märzen-style Oktoberfest pairs well with crisp Autumn days and harvest celebrations.

For being in the home HQ of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, Temperance Beer Company has always had a warm spot in my heart... or at least made me chuckle. From a smart business standpoint, they also share the town with a Big Ten university. And that helps this 12 year old micro still survive, doing its own thing and taking risks (as they claim on their website.)
As for their O-Fest, it is a good marzen; nice amber and foam; Smells mostly of malt; balanced Taste with a touch of lingering dryness in the finish; medium-mouthed. I started this copy with lunch and finished it with dinner leftovers. Performs well enough to wash down the food and even makes the food taste slightly better than it deserves. Prost !

Dark golden amber, good clarity initially, a little hazed over time, likely with the yeast poured in. One finger of foam that fades quickly to a broken skim.
Malty aroma of bread crusts, clean but a little muted.
Tastes of toasted bread crusts, slight apple ester, mild herbal bitterness in the dry finish. Some astringency present that mars it somewhat. Medium bodied with ample carbonation, slight noticeable alcohol.
Overall it’s pretty decent, but the astringency and booze seem out of place.

Clear amber body with two fingers of kahki foam, thick crowns of lacing. Toasted caramel malt with lager yeast and mild old world hops in the nose. Taste adds a full brown bread flavor to what the nose had. Full bodied while staying medium weight, malty yet has yeast character, a little bit of chew. Best of the oktoberfest new to me this year so far
