This is a really drinkable and robustly flavored black brew.
This has a deep roasted flavor, a distinct chocolate taste, and a winey sensation. Carafa is the dark malt along with caramel malt, with Summit and Sterling hops. Some charred taste but it mellows nicely with the winey, caramel flavors. Plenty of hop bitterness, but again the malty sweet notes give it a smooth and lush taste.
The aftertaste is appropriately bitter, well within the drinkable zone, but perhaps more like an Irish stout at the finish. You keep wanting another swig to let the flavors swing through their variety. From the 64 oz growler purchased at the brewery tap just down the street from Black Raven.

I had this on Nitro so not sure it's the same beer folks below are reviewing. It is on the sweeter side but, at least the Nitro version, had solid creamy body, nice mocha head retention, and a cafe au lait / cafe mocha flavor. more roasted notes would be good but this beats most nitro porters I've had.

Had it at The Engine House #9 in Tacoma, WA I was excited to try it. Aroma was nice roasty and inviting nice off whitish head setting on top and then it just stopped. One note at best and a little sweet (for me). Easily forgettable I'm really glad I only got a small sample. If porters are your thing I'd go with another porter. I would like to try some of their other offerings however just to see if they are just as lack luster.
