Aged like fine wine, Antiquity is one of the most mature projects we’ve released to date. Its tale begins more than three years ago, when we added Caragnan grape juice to a golden wild ale base. It was then blended with a dark sour ale and rested in a blend of plain French oak and red wine barrels—aging, shifting, and improving every step of the way.

Appearance: Pours flat with a rust color; looks like a tawny fortified wine
Smell: Vinous, oaky and sour with a prune element; smells like a red wine that has turned into vinegar
Taste: There is a hint of prune sweetness on the tip of the tongue but the sour element takes over quickly; the prune element lingers a bit before the medicinal pucker factor overwhelms the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body and no carbonation
Overall: There are some interesting elements here, somewhat like an Oud Bruin, but the finish destroys the complexity with a one dimensional sourness; I really wanted to like this but I just couldn't warm up to it
Thanks, kevindp9, for the opportunity
