A:
Fairly clear-looking brass with a finger of airy, off-white soapy head that pretty much evaporates. Meh, as far as retention goes; little lacing. (3.75)
S:
Deep, wine-tinged funk. Hay, floral, lime tartness, sugar cookies, horse stall funk as a backdrop. (4.25)
T:
Wide swath of saisony, sour, and barrel flavors. Dried flowers give way to an earthy-but-crisp chardonnay flavor, finished off by funky horseblanket, old wood and faint rotten fruit, with a whiff of lacquer. (4)
M:
Light-medium body with light, champagne-like carbonation, dry with a tiny pucker. (4)
O:
Tasty beer, big and busy but not too disparate for its own good.
Looks nice enough for government work; the real highlight for me is the aroma and, to a lesser extent, the flavor. Equal parts earthy, hay-like, floral, winey. The wine is a little too present for my tastes, but it is not bad and frankly I am pretty impressed that that much wine flavor can be present without it tasting really oaky. This would be a great one for someone who liked wine and was excellent for food pairing. Would have again. (4)

Chilled bottle. Served in a tulip.
Hazy rustic orange in colour. Fast dissipating head that leaves lacing on the glass.
Nose is bready with oaked Chardonnay tones.
Taste is similar. Quite a bit of Chardonnay and oak which comes across nicely. Yeasty, sweet honey. Mild carbonation. Middle light weight mouth feel.
Overall, I really like this one. These guys have got the saison down. Adding it to fresh Chardonnay barrels kicks it up a notch. Well played!
