Had on tap. Dark clear brown with some thin eggshell white bubbles. Smell and taste have some different twists. Smell is roasted malt forward with plenty of dark fruit and caramel. The taste hits you harder with the sweet dark fruit, with vanilla, caramel, and then the finish is roasted with some leathery tobacco. Both good takes, and the flavors go down easy. Feel is so thin for a stout though, but it stupid smooth.

this is a cool beer, not a stout as we traditionally conceive of them, a really nice dark ale though however you look at it. i get less of the bitter dark roasted grain here, more of a middle ground, past the dry cocoa malt, although there is some of that here, to a deep dried fruity autumnal complexion of raisins and dates and even tobacco, its mild, but its complex and it is cohesive. i love the absence of the most intense dark grain flavors, it leaves a nice open space for some of the nuance, and this is grain i want to taste! i think its awesome the source organic ingredients, and that to me is most obvious and cool in a malt driven beer like this one, there are flavors here we just dont usually get to enjoy, its great. this is also a cool canvas for other flavors, they do a coffee infusion in the taproom, but i could also imagine a lot of other neat additives like cocoa nibs, black tea, or even pumpkins. i was really impressed with all the beers in here when i visited, but this was one of their best!

Pours a very dark brown colour. Smells like roasted malts, figs, raisins, and sweet malts. Tastes like figs, grapes, roasted malts, toasted grains, with crisp finish.

I biked 10 miles to the brewery on a warm spring day and Nice it was. While listed as an American Stout to me it lacks the roast, bitterness and body normally associated as a stout – it fits better in the porter or even strong brown ale category.
It has a big malty nose with some graininess – not a lot of roast.
It pours pitch black with a 1" light tan foam cap of moderate duration. Lacy.
Palate – grainy, malty, creamy, some chocolate, some big grain, a little bit of coffee on the finish, a touch of astringency.
Medium body and medium carbonation.

64oz growler poured into Duvel tulip.

I received this growler as a gift, and info on this beer is limited. As for the style, the brewery only refers to it as a 'Dark Ale'. To me, the style best fits that of 'American Stout'.

A: Pours near black with large, fast dissipating tan head.

S: There is a strong roastiness, with caramel malt and some chocolate.

T: Very roasty flavor. Sweet malt and vanilla with a moderate bitterness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, feels slick. Perhaps a bit thinner than I'd ideally have it.

O: Prior to today I never knew this brewery existed, but this brew seems pretty solid. It's smooth and drinkable, I'd go for it again.
