ah yes, the ambiguous american strong ale. a well made beer here, straddling the ipa line a little bit, but with a nicer balance than most have and a well rounded grain complexion as well. it reminds me of an older school beer, when big was around 7% abv, and arrogant bastard was about as abrasive as it got. this isnt even that intense on the grain or the hops, but has a similar vibe in that its trying to do several things at the same time. the beauty of this compared to that though, is that i want to drink this one all night long. its flavorfully hopped, but not real bitter, and its malty but not real sweet, stuck in a pleasant no mans land and seemingly in no hurry to go anywhere. its balanced like a teeter totter. i get light peach or apricot in here, mild honey, baked muffin, and more ale yeast flavor than i got from any of their other beers, kind of bringing it together, but i have to assume its the same house ale strain, i guess i just appreciate it more here. cool they are calling it a strong ale at this now modest abv, very old school. good flavors here, super fresh, rad its organic, and another highlight from our visit to bang!
