A: cloudy; pale gold in color; 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: grapefruit with elderflower;

T: elderflower with grapefruit in the background;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: the elderflower is too medicinal for my taste;

 

 

 

From a 16oz can into a Perfect Pint glass, it’s a hazy orange color capped by a very small head of white foam that quickly fades to nothing. Nose is hoppy with a little grapefruit. In the mouth it’s a pleasant and unassuming grapefruit flavor with no alcohol burn. Hops presence is minimal. Mouth is nicely crisp and the body is watery and quenching. Overall good, I would have again. Nothing spectacular but quite drinkable and quenching.

 

 

 

 

Can: Poured a bright yellow color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hops notes with light grapefruit undertones. Taste is also a mix of citrus hops undertones with some light grapefruit with some lingering bitterness. Body is pretty full with good carbonation. Enjoyable IPA with focus on citrus flavours.

 

 

 

Appearance - Pours a hazy apricot with three fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - citrus and tropical hops, citrus and orange peel, elderflower, hint of grapefruit peel, hint of coconut, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.

Taste - citrus and tropical hops upfront. The citrus and orange peel come through next followed by the elderflower. The grapefruit peel is there but not enough to translate. The brew is rounded out by the coconut, bready malts, caramel, and earthy yeast.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes sticky with all elements lingering.

Overall - A highly drinkable IPA in this series. This one is more on the lighter side than other brews in this series but not a bad thing at all.

Pours hazy blond with greenish glints. The frothy, smallish head leaves plenty of lace trails on the glass. Lychee, white grape, peach notes in the nose. Citrusy hops up front in the nose along with garlic notes. Lime in there too. The mouthfeel is medium light bodied with moderate carbonation. Medium bitterness and lingering bready malts in the long finish.

A nice IPA, though not as complex and dank in the hop department as is usual for this brewery. Worth a try still, the concept is great and it's tasty in it's own right.

473 mL can from the LCBO: dated Feb 4 2021 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a turbid, translucent, pale yellow-apricot colour, giving rise to nearly one finger of soapy, foamy white head that melts off within a minute or two. A modest collar of frothy suds remains in place, surrounding an islet of film in the centre; the speckling of lace flung about is scant at best, but it looks fine. Definitely getting grapefruit on the nose, but the other elements are considerably more muted - there's hints of lemon zest, elderflower, and indeterminate tropical fruit - passion fruit, maybe? The floral aspects of the elderflower open up a little as the glass warms.

Not bad at all - it's hop forward from start to finish, with the grapefruit zest coming through early on, together with nectar-sweet notes of elderflower that provide some semblance of balance. Hints of mango by mid-sip, with coconut and some pithy, herbal hops coming through towards the finish; fruity, slightly citrusy aftertaste with lingering elderflower, coconut and fairly low bitterness. Medium in body, with assertive carbonation that prickles and prods the tongue with enthusiasm, remaining crisp and lively well into the session. I had no issues pouring this one down the hatch, though in all honestly the hop profile is not totally my cup of tea.

Final Grade: 4.03, a solid A-. IPA No. 16 was a pleasure to drink, but I wouldn't say it's one of the better entries in this IPA series. They don't elaborate upon which hop strains were used (on their website, or on the label), but I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Sabro was one of them, mostly because of the coconut-esque note on the back end. Like all Collective Arts pale ales, it's pretty good and absolutely worth a look or two... I'll probably pick up another can or two while I can, but that'll be enough for me, I think.

 

Surprisingly hazy and opaque brew; lemon-yellow hue. Good head production and retention.

Not quite as much citrus as I expected on the nose, but it's there, blending with tropical, citrus, and dank notes from the hops. There is a slightly floral aspect to the nose, along with mild tannins, but how much the elderflower addition contributes to that is anyone's guess.

Fairly straightforward on the palate, with a soft sweetness and mild pale graininess complementing the hops. Grapefruit is very mild, and adds no noticeable citric acid. There is an earthy pungency, milkier than the herbal quality than dank hops provide; I suspect that may be from the flowers, but again, I cannot really say. Somewhat tea-like and light.

Very lively and crisp on the palate; mild bitterness for an IPA.

Pours an off-putting gold/grey colour. The smell is a bit tropical, sweet and fruity. The taste is actually nicer than I was expecting, with an unusual fruity sweetness to it that works well. The mouthfeel is very effervescent, like soda, which took me by surprise. I prefer less bubbly brews
