Hey, Nelson! It's our latest limited-release IPA! We brewed this beer with Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Mosaic hops - creating a deep and complex flavour profile. This beer has notes of fruity white-wine grapes from the Nelson Sauvin hops, layered with the Citra and Mosaic which deliver juicy citrus and stone fruit notes. With flavours of grapefruit, mango and ripe peach, this beer is sure to blow you away!

Lots of sediment from only two months in can. Excessive floaties get a low score from me due to PTSD from drinking chunky homebrew back in the day. Tasted pretty good though! Very fruity. Doesn't taste high in alcohol.

Why do I keep having brews with Nelson Sauvin or any hops from New Zealand in them? I don't like them!
Because when it's done properly, the other, (for me) much better hops can balance them nicely, making for a good combo.
So let's see.
Pours very light, with a tiny, weak head. I can smell Nelson in the pour. The others (especially Mosaic) kick in, in the nose. Interesting. Not a bad taste, nice combo. Nelson really remains in the form of white wine, but without the tartness or acidity. Oily feel.
Okay, so this isn't a home-run, but I'd have it again. Nice.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Feb 8 2023 and served barely chilled.

Pours a hazy, translucent pale golden colour, generating over an inch of creamy, foamy white head that seeps off within two or three minutes' time. Afterwards, a half-inch ring of lace clings to the glass, with a bubbly collar and filmy cap left floating upon the surface. Understated aroma of grassy, floral hops, white grapes, melon, apricot and orange, with hints of something tropical, e.g. papaya, or perhaps passion fruit.

It's pretty tasty, offering up a crowd-pleasing blend of citrus, tropical fruit and stone fruit, as well as a sweet white grape note on the back end. Grapefruit, orange and peach at first, with melon and white grape by mid-sip; hints of gooseberry, white wine and grapefruit pithiness join near the finish. Grassy, floral hop bitterness is discernible here, lingering into an off-dry aftertaste of grape skin and under-ripened stone fruit. Medium-full in body, with low carbonation and a soft, juicy mouthfeel; barely any hop burn, with little sign of the 6.8%.

Final Grade: 4.13, an A-. Being a huge fan of Nelson Sauvin hops (and of Collective Arts IPAs in general), I had rather high hopes for Hey, Nelson. While I definitely wouldn't say that those hopes were dashed, I'm not sure that this beer used Nelson to its full potential - I was getting more of a Mosaic vibe at first, though as the glass warmed, the grape-y/ wine-y Nelson characteristics did become more assertive. It's undoubtedly a very good IPA, absolutely worth trying at least once while it's still fairly fresh.

Pours hazy straw with a giant everlasting head. The aroma is of white grapes, honey suckle, fresh mown grass and biscuity malts. Tropical fruit and white grapes in abundance in the taste. Grapefruit and floral notes as well. The mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. High bitterness and lots of fruity hop notes in the long finish.

This is a fantastic IPA showcasing an underrated hop variety. Worth a try.

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for $4.85 CDN. Canned February 8, 2023.

Appearance - Reasonably hazy golden straw color. A finger plus of loose white head is poured and spidery lacing sticks to the edges of the glass.

Smell - Citrus aromas, some greapfruit and apple skin with a healthy dose of greapey qualities from teh NElson Sauvin hops.

Taste - Fruity and semi bitter some citrus as well as grapes. Citrus is a touch of nectarine and maybe mango, but overall dominated by the grape tasting Nelson Sauvin hops. Nice wheaty backbone too. Rather reminiscent of IPA No. 7 one of their best offerings.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, smooth with just enough carbonation, semi-dry finish, really good drinkability.

Overall - With Simcoe 4 ways and now Hey, Nelson, CA seems back on track with these limited run but with good distribution IPA's. I might missed one, but these would notionally be IPA No. 23 and No. 24 in the series seeing as they appear to have dropped that nomenclature from these IPA's that would have fit in nicely with that great series.
