This micro pale ale is packed with flavour that some would say is... beyond reason. Brewed with Mosaic & Citra Hops at a lower 2.9% ABV, this great tasting, low-alcohol brew pairs perfectly with your indie playlist and mid-day pints.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned September 24/24. My 20th beer from the Hamilton, Ontario brewery, and 5th for 2026. Lovingly embraced by Sundae the cat...

Keep in mind this is pale ale, not an IPA, and it's 2.9%!! Compared to most pale ales regardless of ABV, this ranks near the top. Fresh and flavourful and a great beer if you want a good brew while staying sober.

On tap at Collective Arts Brewing in Toronto, Ontario.
This one pours a golden and slightly cloudy golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like lemon and grapefruit rind, sugar cookie, grassiness, tea, and some melon.
There’s really quite a nice bit of flavor to this, especially impressive for it being only 2.9% ABV. Collective Arts seems fairly adept at making NA beers, so I guess it makes sense that they’d make very low alcohol beers well, as well. This has a light, pithy, and moderately citrusy hop character, with a pleasantly cookie like malt character – unobtrusive, and helps keep it from appearing too thin.
This is light bodied, crisp, and super clean, with a wonderful drinkability.
This was quite impressive, and clearly very well brewed.

Tallboy from the LCBO; dated May 24 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy, translucent golden-blonde colour, briefly topped with one finger of loose, soapy white head that fizzles within two minutes, tops. A frothy collar and filmy cap live on amidst a modest scattering of lace - looks normal enough. Fruity aroma that offers up notes of tangerine and tropical fruit, with suggestions of honeydew melon and floral, grassy hops. Surprisingly aromatic for such a light beer.
Rather light of course, but the flavours are appealing enough. Hints of orange, grapefruit and melon, followed by some grassy hops and citrus pithiness on the tail end; weakly floral aftertaste that fades to mineral water. Light in body, with aggressive carbonation that remains prickly and crisp right down to the last couple of gulps - which come sooner than expected, given this brew's outstanding drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.85, a B+. Beyond Reason is a solid light beer - yeah, its flavours are muted, I can't argue otherwise... but it's only 3%, so I really wasn't expecting much more than what I got. On your average night, I doubt I'd pick this over a 5% pale ale of equivalent quality, but this brew does show some potential - e.g. this'd be great after mowing the lawn on a hot afternoon, or as a practical session beer while camping, or at the cottage, etc. Worth a try if you're looking for a light beer, doubly so if you don't care for lagers.

473 ml can served cold into a beer mug. Canned March 27, 2023. This isn't usually my thing, but was interested in seeing what a 2.9% ABV APA could bring.
Appearance - Hazy pale straw color with a big multi-fingered robust head and pretty decent staying power.
Smell - Light citrus notes and some sweaty gym bag socks. Not a whole lot else.
Taste - Light citrus flavor, a touch of sweetness. Light grainy backbone.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied with expressive carbonation and maybe a bit gassy.
Overall - For a micro pale ale, this is good, but in the end it just ends up as hop water, so while I can see this appealing to some, this isn't really an option for the general beer consuming crowd, and certainly not for the average BA here.
