Pours cloudy straw with a bubbly, shortlived head. The aroma is of fresh bread, crackers and herbal hops. Sea air and fresh mown grass hop flavors in the taste, along with plenty of bready malts. The mouthfeel is full bodied with prickly, active carbonation. The finish is moderately bitter with herbal hops and bready malts lasting a while.
A nice German Pilsner with a complex hop profile. Worth a try.

Tallboy from the LCBO, included in Collective Arts' Time Machine Anniversary Pack; dated Apr 27 2023 and served slightly chilled. The other five beers in this pack are callbacks, i.e. past recipes that they haven't brewed in a while - however, this pilsner is a brand new product.
Pours a foggy translucent golden-yellow colour, generating an inch of foamy, soapy white head that dissipates within five minutes, give or take. A delicate pattern of fern frond lace adheres to the glass, with a generous collar of creamy suds left around a sudsy cap - looks great so far. Hints of lemon peel, grassy hay and floral hops on the nose, with grains and crackery pale malts also coming through clearly. Smells clean and wholesome.
It tastes along the same lines - a little sweet at first, with bready, doughy malts & graininess leading into mid-sip. This is followed by lemon peel and grassy, floral hops, with a mildly earthy bitterness tying up the back end. Aftertaste is rather dry. Light-medium in body, with relatively low carbonation that softly agitates the surface of the tongue; feels smooth, but maybe a little 'flat' for a pale lager. However, this doesn't hurt its drinkability, which is through the roof.
Final Grade: 3.88, a B+. Common Language will make a solid addition to the Collective Arts portfolio, which has always been a little light on lagers. It's less crisp than I'd like from a pilsner, which is related to the carbonation - but really, if that's the worst complaint I can come up with then we're dealing with a pretty decent-tasting beer. Pilsner fans will want to keep their eyes peeled for this in the future - as for me, I'd like to try this side-by-side with some of my favourite pilsners to see if it really matches up with the big boys.
