473 mL can from the LCBO; no canning date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours opaque and turbid, its yellow orange-hued body very briefly topped with two fingers of big bubbled, orange-tinted head that quickly dissipates. No cap, collar or lace is left behind, though there is a pulpy film that clings to the glass - looks more or less the same as mango nectar. No shortage of mango on the nose, either, with added hints of orange juice, lime, wheaty malts, mango yogurt and a faintly vegetal pepper note.
Interesting profile; the mango tends to dominate, but there's more going on in the background. Sweet at the forefront, with mango juice interspersed with hints of jalapeño heat and vegetal pepper flavour. Citrusy lime zest crops up by mid-sip, with hints of peach, salt and mango yogurt rounding out the tail end; moderately sour conclusion, with mango juiciness lasting into the aftertaste; just a touch of green pepper and jalapeño spiciness, too. On the fuller side of medium-bodied, with a juicy, fulfilling mouthfeel - it works well with the mango, but doesn't exactly scream "gose" to me. Pretty good drinkability, but one serving per night sounds about right.
Final Grade: 4.18, an A-. If you're looking for a traditional gose, then Collective Arts' Mango, Lime & Jalapeño Gose might not be the right choice. That being said, it's a really tasty fruited sour that I enjoyed from start to finish. I would describe the pepper heat as restrained and thus unlikely to be an issue, unless you're especially sensitive - it's more of a throat & chest-warming effect vs. a major aspect of the flavour profile. My only real issue with this beer is that it doesn't come off as particularly 'gose-like' - it's not light or refreshing, like at all - but I'd still buy it again without hesitation.

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase. Canned August 15, 2024.
Appearance - Super neon mango color with lots of foaminess and gigantic bubbles that dissipate very quickly. Lots of puree and other additives to give that reaction.
Smell - Robust mango with earthiness and pinch of lime and more earthiness. Green pepper element here too.
Taste - Plenty of mango, almost juice like, with a sprinkle of lime and salt to counterbalance and an element of earthy and raw jalapeno for some heat. Nice disparate flavors however their cohesiveness is middling at best. Green pepper flavoring as well.
Mouthfeel - Thick and a bit sticky, very juice like. I wouldn't say this is terribly refreshing which is a staple for the style.
Overall - Interest use of mango purees here, this is almost a pastry gose if such a thing were to exist. Worth a try for novelty but can't see this being in my regular rotation.
