This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a two finger off white to almost tan rocky head that dissipated within less than about thirty seconds. Barely any lacing stuck, it all slid into the beer. The smell started off with some light dark fruits rolling into subtle roasty hints of coffee and a light cocoa. The taste takes the previously mentioned flavors to combine sweet and nicely. Roastiness and bitterness of the coffee slides in to blend nicely. The aftertaste is semi-sweet, somewhat roasty and has a nice stickiness. The finish is quick and somewhat dry. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a somewhat sweet sticky sessionability to it. Carbonation seems to hit a tad harder than other schwarzbiers I’ve had. Overall, for the most part, its a good schwarzbier, carbonation might hit a bit harder than others of its style, but it mainly hits all of the points of the style. Maybe, it could have some breadiness in the flavor, that could help maybe a little bit.

On cask at Stone Corral. Black and a little transparent at the edges. Smells very roasty. A little nutty. Tastes nutty throughout. Dark chocolate. Roasted malts. Drops off in the finish with a bit of dark fruit. Medium body. A very nice Schwarz bier.

Poured into a 13 oz tulip glass not sure when it was bottled. Pours a dark brown with a 2 finger off white head that leaves behind plenty of lace.
Smell is biscuity grains, some coffee, caramel, vanilla, and toffee.
Taste follows very grainy, dry coffee, vanilla, and cocoa.
Mouthfeel is not even medium, light carbonation, a little dry for sure, and drinks easy enough.
Overall this is confusing, Sam Adams Black Lager comes to mind. O.k beer.

Poured from the bottle into a snifter.
Pours nearly jet black with very little head, nice caramel color.
Aromas are a ton of roast, some smoke and leather.
Flavors match up with aromas.
Mouthfeel might be a touch thin.
Overall, tasty beer.

From the 650 ml. bottle. Sampled on June 12, 2016.
It pours a dark brown to nearly black under a modest tan head.
The aroma is full of chocolate and caramel malt sweetness with a low to no hop profile.
Medium to full body.
The same roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel sweetness in the taste with a low almost absent hop finale. This style is not meant to be hopped up and Stone Corral did a nice job with it.
