Can. Dark amber with lasting ring and island. Woody slightly boozy maple syrup caramelized brown sugar herbal aroma. Sweet maple syrup with assertive woody herbal finish that cleans it right up. Full slick body with fine carbo. Excellent example of an American version of the style. No cloying. Minimal yeastiness.

Picked up a 22oz bomber at the Cabot Annex near Queechee recently for $7.99... Digging in while laxing out in the sun on a late summer Saturday....
It is a lovely, deep, clear chestnut colored brew. The head is a creamy 1/2" layer of fine, tan foam, with decent lacing. The aroma is malty rich with caramel and hints of brown bread. It is fairly smooth overall, and the body is a good medium.
The tastes follows up on the aroma, with lovely malts caressing the palate with sweetness. There's lots of caramel, some toffee, brown sugar and brown bread, and some nutty notes. Also getting some nice chocolate and cocoa action. Finding just a subtle smidge of floral hopping in the finish. But this is a brew heavy on the malts, as it should be. Am really digging this bier, one of the better domestic DBocks I have tried. It's getting me in the mood for my visit to The Fatherland in a few weeks. Prosit!!

The appearance was a dark brown color with a thin white little head that dissipated quickly. Lacing was few and far between (sample glass, not worried). The smell took in a huge amount of dark and milk chocolate malts. Light caramel and toffee invade delicately underneath. Light smoke. The taste was mainly malty sweet with a light smoke and light peat underneath. Smooth slightly peaty to smoky malty aftertaste runs into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionable feel to it. Carbonation feels light, but good. Overall, what a nice beer, doppelbock, maybe could use a bit more "beef" in the body. Still, I’d have again.

Pours from can a dark cloudy red-brown with decent head. Smells of bread and faint dried fruits. Taste really opens up on this one as it warms, with dried fruits followed by breadiness. A touch thin, but not bad.
