The appearance was all black just like the normal look of their "Black Beer." Light little head here and there and dissipated substantially. The smell started off with the normal amount of the "Black Beer" qualities of Stone Corral’s schwarzbier. And then the subtle raspberry pops in to say "hello." Its a nice hello as its subtle enough to be a stellar balance. The taste takes on the "black beer" persona and the raspberry. Dry woody (guessing that’s the French Oak) slides into the aftertaste with the raspberry. Nice sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable feel to it. Carbonation runs fairly light. Raspberry punches on my tongue but isn’t overbearing with the chocolate feels coming on nice in the balance of it all. Overall, Stone Corral took their "flagship" beer and just hyped it up to be a stellar adventure. I’d definitely have this again.
