Mistakenly picked this one up instead of Milky Way Princess, doh.
Hazy opaque orange with sparse trails of carbonation. Long lasting head and surface coverage. Minimal spotty lace.
Smells a little odd. Dry and yeasty, zero cocoa aroma, not much complexity or interest there.
Taste is musty and weird. Astringent with a slight dry cocoa powder bitterness. Over-attenuated and somewhat over carbonated. Vague notes of clover, earthiness, bitter root. Odd twangy spices. Medium bodied, a little rough around the edges, not the most drinkable.
Overall it wasn't worth $10 a bomber, but I won't be picking this up again or seeking out anything more from Only Child.

22 oz. bottle, with no apparent bottled on date present. Another new one to me from Only Child Brewing Company, this one a "Farmhouse ale with cocoa". An interesting premise; I'm not entirely sure what to expect with this one.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - Pours a hazed burnt sienna orange body with five or more fingers of soft fluffy off-white head that stays around for a long long time. Lots of tightly packed microbubbles in the foamy head. Big fat walls of lacing. Tons of active carbonation going crazy in the glass. Looks very nice.
S - The aroma is comprised of spritzy saison yeast derived fruitiness - pineapple, lemon, lime, with just the faintest hint of powdery cocoa on the end. Good saison yeast presence, but very one dimensional.
T - Taste follows the nose - very crisp, spritzy, and fruity. Fermented fallen apples and chalky earthy cocoa powder coming into play on the finish. The cocoa is not overdone and is well integrated with the saison yeast, but I do find myself wishing it was a bit more pronounced.
M - The feel is crisp & yeasty. Medium-full bodied, with hefty, but appropriate carbonation. Not super easy to drink, but it goes down nicely. Dry, chalky, and a bit sticky on the finish.
Overall, an average farmhouse ale offering from Only Child. The cocoa doesn't detract, but it doesn't add much to the beer either. As it is, a fairly middle-of-the-road offering; I'll have no trouble finishing this bomber, but it's not something I'd be likely to have again.
