I am not a beer expert, but I know what I like. Where a lot of IPA's to me are overly hoppy the Demonseed IPA from Black Sky Brewery was very pleasant and well rounded. The taste was of slightly of raw hops, but the flavor was well rounded and though it doesn't seem to contain any actual fruit I felt as if the flavor was slightly fruity , but not in the saccharine overdone sense that many *real* fruit beers seem to pursue. Let me emphasize this is NOT a fruit beer it does NOT contain fruit, but it does have fruity overtones - possibly due to the raw hops?

this is a fresh hop ipa with some colorado grown C varietals, and its a little rugged and rough around the edges, but i like it a whole lot for what it is. nice clear light copper radiance to this, obviously some slightly richer toasted malt in the bill here. the head is an inch high and lasts awhile before falling back to a thin white layer. the nose is raw hops, intense and in your face, not particularly well refined to tempered, but huge. the same is true with the taste, just the most minute malt sweetness on the front end before the bitter vegetal hop assault. long bitter finish, but the beer drinks light and clean because of its carbonation and lighter medium body. i wouldnt want to make a night of this beer, i think the bitterness is a little too intense for that, but i certainly enjoyed this heavy metal take on a fresh hop ipa, and to drink one in january is a treat.
