cool concept here, a hibiscus brew, and one that us uses the flowers quite well, subtle in smell and taste, not overly perfume drenched, but the base beer needs a little work. pink in color and clear is lovely, but the lack of head and carbonation make it looks a little dead to me. the nose is great though, floral and bright, clean and dry, a little yeasty, but with a nice fruity ester in the belgian family. light and simple malt bill showcases the hibiscus well, which has some sweetness and only turns bitter at the end. the beer itself drinks real light, even with a glaring lack of carbonation. its soft and delicate and honestly quite well done on the flower front, but without any carbonation its tough to drink much of it. thats my only real critique of an otherwise very interesting and well executed brew, but its a big one. the fresh hop ipa is still the winner at black sky in my book, but they are starting to push the envelope with great success.
