This was brewed with blackberries and cocoa nibs. Seriously, totally black in the 10 oz nonic. The blackberry flavor is there, but it's not a fruity sensation. I keep thinking of mud, leaf mold, and a touch of motor oil in the nose.
One of the driest beers I've ever had. It tastes like totally unsweetened chocolate, only with some new kind of bittering agent. Maybe given the metal theme of this place this is the (black) flagship brew. Bleak, utterly bitter aftertaste for the Unforgiven.
This is like a chemistry experiment, and kind of amazing. On tap at the friendly brewpub on Santa Fe. [notes from April 2, 2014 visit]
