a weird one here, they call this a brett saison, but both of those terms are a little subjective in this one. its a clear, i mean crystal clear, copper colored beer without much head after a minute. no haze at all like saisons usually have, and definitely a weird side of wheat malt, if that is indeed whats in here. its caramel colored and has that melting sugar thing going on, definitely more of a mid crystal malt than a pale wheat. the nose is bretty for sure, tart with some wild funk, but no acidity it doesnt appear. in the taste the brett is pretty new and young, immature and not overly flavorful. its mild, and while it has clearly fermented the beer down dry enough to taste good, it definitely doesnt add as much funk as it smells like it should, and its more bready and yeasty weird than it is bretty in the sense we look for in these styles. good flavors though, but it seems a bit off, incomplete, and nowhere at all does it suggest saison to me. i do like the bigger darker grain build, but the rest of it is just strange. cool to see these guys evolving though, i havent been in a long time, and they had a ton of new stuff, and more on than they ever had. although this one didnt really speak to me, i have to appreciate it because its very uncommon.
