this is their gadabout dry hopped lager without the dry hopping, and frankly, its just okay. it really does seem to me like that element is missing, although it does have some redeeming features. its hazy and a little stronger on the grain flavor and on the alcohol, both welcomed features in a beer like this. a little more orange to the color than is common, and a full inch of white head in the globe with nice spiderwebs forming as it drinks. smells a little bland though, and the taste follows that. i get a very straightforward barley malt base and a little lager yeast still cruising through this, but not much else. it does miss the hops, although thats more aromatic for me. there is some hop flavor on the back end here, and a sturdy bitterness as well, but it never really comes together as something good or interesting enough to want to have more than one of, and it seems like a weak link in their lineup overall. well made though, and i like that they are doing some lagers now, but the gadabout is a considerably better beer. my theory is they had to pull it early because they were out of beer. when i was in the beer menu was minimal, out of almost everything, so maybe this was more necessity than desire. tastes like it...
