Burch is back with big flavors of hazelnut and bittersweet chocolate with a sweet but crisp body. Burch may have gone to the big forest in the sky, but Iowa’s first mascot will never be forgotten. In Burch we trust!

Poured from 12-ounce can into a stemless wine glass. Deep chestnut brown, with a light tan sudsy head that left a ton of sticky lacing as it receded. This one has an interesting aroma and flavor profile: malt forward as expected, a little roasty, with a prominent note of cocoa and a hint of coffee alongside big aromas and flavors of rye bread. As it warms, those flavors become accentuated. Pleasant bitterness, a little astringent, with a note of char lingering on the palate. This was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended.

12oz can, date stamped 11/07/23
thanks to Uncle Gary for bringing me some beer from Iowa!
L: brown body with some red hues when held to light; foamy khaki head
S: darkened grain, caramel, hazelnut, chocolate
T: follows the nose: grain, caramel, toffee, hazelnut, chocolate, earthy hops
F: medium body, ample carbonation, semi-dry & balanced finish
O: good example of a brown ale; man, you don’t see these brewed too much these days

Pours between copper and brown with a large fluffy off white head.
The aroma was lightly roasty, with some toffee and brown bread.
Flavor is great, lots of roast, a bit nitty and sweet dark malt flavors of toffee light chocolate and brown bread. There is a faint metallic note that drops it a bit for me but it’s still great.
Great brown ale, not enough of these around,

On tap in Solon. Weird that I craved a brown ale, but this fit the billing. Pretty drinkable.

12oz can. Poured out an opaque, dark, dark brown color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of hazelnut, chocolate, toffee and coffee. Tasted nutty with chocolate, toffee and caramel.
