Drank this on the fast train from Madrid to Toulouse. I like how Carrefour has really made its Saer Brau line affordable. But Especial was only suitable with food and when it was the only beer in my bag. Especial is way sweet and not enough hops for balance. But when eating corn/rice crackers (which seemed to complement the adjunct) and dipping them in a vinegary kalamata hummus, the beer seemed to do its job of washing everything down as the countryside flew by. This is not the time to be critical.
I have been to two Carrefour stores in Toulouse and have not seen this Saer Brau line. Maybe they tried it on the French and it didn't meet their standards. Quien Sabes?

De Carrefour. En copa Teku. Jugando a Monster Boy y el Reino Maldito. Más maltosa que la típica Lager industrial, con cierta maltosidad acaramelada y feel agradable. Bastante ben para una marca blanca

Saer Brau Especial has a very thick, off-white head and a clear, golden appearance, with moderate lacing. The aroma is of white bread crust. The flavor is of sweet, white bread crust and low bitterness. Saer Brau Especial has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish.

Carrefour “Especial”
33 cl can coded “L024605 0209XX 03/03/2025”. Sampled on 19/11/2023
€ 0,37 @ Carrefour, C. Tudescos 1, Madrid, ES
Look: The body is crystal clear and golden beneath a short head of bright white that drops quickly. Limited lacing.
Smell: Sweetish cereal grain with no noticeable hops.
Taste: Sweet adjunct (corn) malt with very limited hops in the background. A moderate bitterness leaves it sweet and sticky in the finish.
Feel: Medium bodied and soft with a limited carbonation. Flabby.
Overall: The clarity is probably the best attribute for this beer, and although the cost is minimal it’s just not worth it.
