from Untappd, brewed by La Brasserie Castelain--
Floral aroma and certainly a floral taste. Seems to focus on the malts, and very lightly hopped if at all. Very flat visually, zero head.

Correct me if I'm wrong after only 5 brews from Carrefour, but what they seem to be doing here is creating brews for the food they sell and/or that the French eat. Seems a smart strategy. Then Carrefour contracts out to a brewery, in this case Castelain who is famous for the Biere de Garde.
What their description says is true: this is a flat brew. But you know what? Wine is flat and the French cook for that. There also is a lot of flavour in Reflets' Biere de Garde, some from Castelain's skill and some from the recipe which includes wheat which, of course, the French eat lots of particularly via their breads which, IMHO, are the best in the world. So there you have it: the makings of a very successful brewing business strategy designed by a French grocery chain. For bringing brewing to their large audience of winos, I give them (Carrefour, not the winos) some very good Overall Hugs.
As for the beer, flat don't bother me. (I'm a malt-head.) There is still a nice colour to this brew. Smells are mostly malt. But Tastes are balanced by just enough hops. In this style, the blending of the malts is key and they do a good job here. Almost medium-mouthed.
I want to explore this strategy more. It worked great tonight with an array of appetisers, all from Carrefour.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
