The beer pours a nice creamy white that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a very clear, dark amber that might be better described as brown in a certain light. The beer looks pretty nice and as one for the style should.
The smell is decent. It has a nice sweet pineapple smell that mixes with the expected strong resin hop notes and sweet caramel malt notes that you usually find in the regular version of the beer. The only thing missing is the overwhelming dry hop notes that you usually get in the original variant. Essentially, you get a pretty sweet smell but my main issue is that the pineapple comes off as artificial either because it is or the malt note enhances it to the point where it starts to detract from the beer.
The taste is decent. The taste has the same notes as the smell but the pineapple is a little less fake. The strong resin and caramel malt notes are there but with a sweet pineapple note running through it that takes away a bit of the hoppiness. The pineapple follows you in the aftertaste and is less artificial than the smell. However, it tastes like you will either like it or hate it. Me, I kind of like it. It certainly adds a unique touch to something that isn't just hoppy for hoppy sake.
The feel is good. It has a heavy body and certainly is a bit thick like syrup as it goes down. There is enough carbonation to give it a bit more texture.
Overall, an okay beer. The problem is that the pineapple note is so sweet that it comes off as artificial and does not work very well with the other beer notes. Personally, while it is a certainly interesting choice
