Double Dry Hopped Imperial Red India Pale Ale

Inspired by one of the greatest race horses to ever live, Secretariat’s Meadow is a grand-champion in the making. As dark in color as the Triple Crown winner and with a heart twice the size of the competition, Secretariat’s Meadow explodes with the flavor and aroma of Mosaic hops. Mosaic hops feature complex flavors and aromas akin to tangerines, papaya, roses and fresh blossoms. To enhance these characteristics we double dry-hopped the beer for maximum effect. Born in The Meadow. Destined for Greatness.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a rich amber color and a clear texture. There was a big, two inch, creamy, long-lasting, off white head. Pretty good lacing.

S: A nice aroma of hops, some malt, light tropical fruit, a floral quality and some caramel.

T: Tasted of a bit of caramel (could have used a little more), a good shot of hops, light malt notes, the aforementioned floral quality, citrus (oranges), and tropical fruit (papaya). An interesting flavor that's kind of a cross between an amber and an IPA. It could have been a bit more aggressive with some of the flavors, but it's still pretty tasty.

F: A good amount of carbonation with a dry finish. Medium-bodied.

O: Overall, this is a solidly made, easy to drink beer. Worth a look.

Poured a copper-red body with minimal head and slight lace ring. The aroma has a floral sweetness to it that is akin to caramel malt and tropical fruit hops. Somewhat lighter beer with a lower malt base and more of a tropical fruit sweetness with a clean yet sticky malt finish and is a light red that you can session w/ no problems (hides ABV).

Ok, this is an imperial hopped-up amber, but is style blurring and the brewery calls it a red IPA. It does show its color, so to speak - but also a ton of hops. To my tastes, though, it probably leans more to the amber.

A very dark ruby/brown body, but with an amazing creamy head. A continuous sheet of lacing adorns the glass early. I'm ignoring the "pale" in my score.

They use Mosaic hops in this beer, and it's obvious. Tropical fruits more than citrus. The amber base does come out, though providing a little earthiness. Overall, a fruity nose.

Taste follows, with the citrus gaining ground. Orange and mango, the amber malt lies in wait until mid-taste. The bitterness hides even longer, but shows in the end. Earthy becomes a bit pithy, with a bit of grapefruit in some tastes. In some sips I even get a little mint tea.

A little lighter in feel than it is in boldness, this won't weigh you down too much. Little resin build up in the end.

Not a hoppy amber fan, but the presence of the fruity notes from the Mosaic help a lot here. I found it might be nice and smooth for the ABV, but luckily my palate leads me to sip it.
