Day, I don’t know, I think it’s 8, on the road; our annual beer & baseball trip in full swing, although technically, it's on the backside now. Louisville, Indy, & Cincy seem like a dream now. Cleveland just behind us and Detroit ahead, but a ‘Meanwhile, in Ann Arbor’ in between, being now. Didn’t expect the meat & cheese joint on the side of the road…
Little house 1 room jam (no pun intended at the time of note taking scribble but in retrospect to the wares sold there, it is kind of funny). Food display cases with all the goods. Coolers with meat, jerky, cheeses, sauces, and then other provisions as they are, shelved. A rack of jarred things; pickles, sauces, and the like. Upright cylinder non-descript wood handled towers on a kegerator in the corner. Horizontal letter board above listing 6 ‘small batch house beers’ served in 12oz or pint plastic cup pours, and 32oz & 64oz growlers (beer, ABV, & pricing). Growlers displayed on a little barrel and mad merch alongside there.
Food board in the corner; sandwiches, brats, sausages, tater tot baskets, & sides. We all got in on, you know, that. Dogs & sausages for all my friends! Just gimme a classic, please, and thank you, and I added spicy mustard and onions (as is my right) from the sick ass toppings bar in the middle of the room. I probably should have gone with a chili dog but I do this kind of dumb shit all the time. And seriously, how did I not get cole slaw? What was I thinking?!?! My hot dog was perfect. Davo did a ‘build a Chicago dog’, Ben opted for a cheddar jalapeno kielbasa, which he gave the chef’s kiss when asked how it was, and Witz had the green chili & queso brat, which he did dig. I went back for a side of awesome cole slaw (to right a wrong), and then we all hit Davo’s banana pudding which did not suck.
Oh, and maybe something to wash it down with. 6 beers up at current (Blonde Ale, 4%; Dry Stout, 4.2%; Session IPA, 4.8%; Vienna, IPA, 6.8%; Agave Amber, 8.5%; Citra Imperial IPA, 10%). Wait. Vienna is an IPA, not a Lager? I think that may be the single most confusion ass beer name I’ve ever heard. I went Agave Amber, pleasant drinking, nice hop bite, and Blonde, a nice easy drinker.
Slight bar counter ledge seating to both sides of the door, but otherwise, go sit outside somewhere. Stooled, 4 orange picnic tables under egg filament bulb lined awning and a few more on the side lawn. And then more. All in all, there were like 2 dozen tables next door front yard and in between.
The little place that makes a lot happen. We toyed with jerky & beef sticks to go (or maybe a whole goddamn pastrami); we were just really coolerless is all. Nice place for a snacky snack and a pint(s).
