The Block IPA is a true Hop Monster with 6 different hop varieties slammed in every inch of this beer. The malt bill is simple and straight forward so not to get in the way of the true hop flavor. The initial aroma is citrus and passion fruit followed by a burst of green hop and pine flavors.. The bitterness comes through in the middle allowing for a pure hop goodness in the finish.

Smooth. Subtle. Not overly sweet. Solid 4.

This is a night cap beer at the Afterwards bookstore and bar. Poured from draft into a shaker pint glass. Clear golden yellow color with a decent white head and good curtain lacing. Dank, piney smell and taste citrus notes. Good feel. Fairly standard IPA.

Clear light amber color with a modest but lasting white head and some nice lacing all the way.
The aroma is caramel, citrus, passion fruit and pine.
The taste starts out with some light caramel malt and tropical juice - tangerine, lemon and passion fruit, followed quickly by grapefruit zest and pine resin for a lingering dry finish. More than enough bitterness for the hop head, yet nicely balanced, very tasty.
The body is medium, sticky yet smooth, nice moderate carbonation, very drinkable.
Altogether a very nice IPA with some elements from both coasts. Well worthwhile.

Drank at brewery in a tulip glass. Poured a nice light amber color into glass with a nice thin white head with lacing staying around thru the entire glass. Smell is earthy piney with notes of citrus. Also pick up some caramel sweetness from the malts. Taste is oh so good. Nice blend of flavors with some pine, citrus with just enough maltiness to hold it together. Beer has just enough bitters on the back side to go with a slightly dry finish. This has always been one of my favorite beers. This brewery has so many good beers, I tend to want to try their most recent additions. With that said and the pandemic, I likely haven't drank this been is likely a year. Welcome back old friend, I really have forgotten how much I enjoyed you. If in KC and like IPA's, do try this one. Not fancy or over the top as many IPAs, but this is one which reminds you just how good and balanced a good IPA can be.

Excellent IPA. Surprising note was an element of sweetness that was awesome.

The rating is from memory, so no specifics.
I've been to all the breweries in NKC and KC proper, and this is the best IPA made in the city. If you want an IPA in this city, Block is the way to go.
Well balanced IPA with a great smell and hop flavor that follows the nose. (I'll try to add more specifics next time)
