Very Good
Block IPABlock IPA
Notes: The Block IPA is a true Hop Monster with 6 different hop varieties slammed in every inch of this beer. The malt bill is simple and straight forward so not to get in the way of the true hop flavor. The initial aroma is citrus and passion fruit followed by a burst of green hop and pine flavors.. The bitterness comes through in the middle allowing for a pure hop goodness in the finish.

Drank at brewery in a tulip glass. Poured a nice light amber color into glass with a nice thin white head with lacing staying around thru the entire glass. Smell is earthy piney with notes of citrus. Also pick up some caramel sweetness from the malts. Taste is oh so good. Nice blend of flavors with some pine, citrus with just enough maltiness to hold it together. Beer has just enough bitters on the back side to go with a slightly dry finish. This has always been one of my favorite beers. This brewery has so many good beers, I tend to want to try their most recent additions. With that said and the pandemic, I likely haven't drank this been is likely a year. Welcome back old friend, I really have forgotten how much I enjoyed you. If in KC and like IPA's, do try this one. Not fancy or over the top as many IPAs, but this is one which reminds you just how good and balanced a good IPA can be.

The rating is from memory, so no specifics.

I've been to all the breweries in NKC and KC proper, and this is the best IPA made in the city. If you want an IPA in this city, Block is the way to go.

Well balanced IPA with a great smell and hop flavor that follows the nose. (I'll try to add more specifics next time)

Pours a frosty dark yellow with a medium white head. Head has strong retention and lacing. Aroma is a hop paradise with pine, dank, earthy, and spruce notes. Flavor profile is very hoppy, with similar earthy notes. Mouth feel is sticky, with a medium consistency. Overall, it's a tasty IPA, but aires on the side of the "hoppy" stereotype for IPAs. Still tasty though.

Served in a 12oz bulbous pint glass. Reviewed from notes. Served at No Other Pub in Kansas City.

On tap at the brewery in tulip glass. The nose is amazing. Citrusy, fruity, malty. Almost resembles a DIPA. Mouthfeel is velvety and smooth. Perfect carbonation. Taste is hoppy, and close to same as nose. This brewery will be something someday, I hope.

This is not a hop slam and it has good balance between piney and bitterness. I'm not sure why the scores are low here unless everyone is looking for a West Coast style IPA. I don't always need to be attacked by hops. Balance is what comes across with this one. Good aroma, and mouthfeel. Very clean finish. This is a go-to IPA for me.

Good looking golden honey and ivory head. Refreshingly tart and juicy, tropically hop smelling beer. Passionfruit, orange, and starfruit. Weathered body-crisp but mellow. Lime and fresh cut grass on palate, soft bed of pine and cut tropical fruit laid on top.

A - Poured a copper color with orange highlights.

S - It smelled of grapefruit and citrus. There was a nice caramel malt smell, too.

T - It tasted of roasted malt with mild grapefruit and bubblegum flavors.

M - It was crisp and very sharp. A medium-bodied IPA.

D - I'm impressed with Cinder Block brews. They're all very good.
