a pretty solid berliner for a brewery that i didnt think did sour beers. this is quite well done, rather traditional, and not too sour at all. i found it majorly drinkable and interesting enough. lots of tang to it, fresh white wheat malt flavor, and a little more body than most, which i think is a benefit. slight lemon here, zesty and fresh from the lacto, which is way cleaner than many of these, also a faint white wine aroma, but less fruity in the taste. just the right amount of acidity to make this dry and refreshing, i think its a sour beer for everyone, something a little more approachable than the wild funky ones or the major acid bombs. good carbonation too, this has a lot of life to it. i have been pretty back and forth on the cinder block beers i have had, but i liked this one a lot. it gives me a new appreciation for their brewery. i had no idea they were getting into these styles, and this is really good for being their first (i think it is their first)! definitely worth a try if you see it around town.

Excellent attempt at the classic German style. Nice, tart bite to balance the fruity, somewhat salty flavors. The seasonals at Cinder Block are always first rate. On tap as of 9/12/15.

Poured from growler filled on 7/16 into 500ml Weizen glass.
A- a slightly hazy straw color with a finger-sized head that quickly dissipated.
S- lemony, a little barnyard, some funk, band-aid, lemon and other citrus.
T- good tartness from the lacto and Brett; it's the first thing that hits the tongue. The lemon flavor returns along with a subtle wheat flavor.
M- between light and light-medium body. Prickly tartness that lingers. Somewhat acidic tartness on the back end. Light bitterness. Nice crispness
O- still getting used to this style but will say was very pleased with this offering. Could easily drink this on a hot summer day by the BBQ pit. Solid brew.
