650ml bottle - ahh, this is the potentially perfect brew for the second day in a row of egregiously plus 30 degree temperatures here in northern Alberta!
This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with two chubby fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves some tacky snow rime lace around the glass as things gently subside.
It smells of biscuity, slightly doughy pale cereal malt, mild pome fruit, white pepper, and earthy, leafy, and mildly grassy hops. The taste is grainy, bready pale malt, white saltine crackers, a subtle apple and underripe pear fruitiness, muddled table pepper mill output, hints of hard water stoniness, and more leafy, weedy, and wet grassy hops.
The bubbles are fairly active in their broadly strewn-out, fizzy and frothy emanations, the body an adequate medium weight, and a bit too tight to be deemed particularly smooth. It finishes on a strong drying trend, the bled-out crackery malt and still heady noble hops welcoming an ethereal hint of gasohol.
A very enjoyable and worthwhile version of a 'keller' beer - the actual purported style of this offering - as the hops and slight petrol essence obviate any particular Bohemian claims here. Drinkable until the cows indeed do come home, or tip over of their own accord, what with that insufferable heat wafting around outside right now.
