8oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square (post tap takeover) - this entry was added first on BA, so here is where I shall plant my flag.
This beer appears a slightly hazy, medium copper amber colour, with one skinny finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat bubbly off-white head, which leaves some melting iceberg profile lace around the glass as it quickly dissipates.
It smells of dank pine resin, orange, red grapefruit, and lemon citrus rind, gritty and grainy cereal malt, and more leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is muddled domestic citrus peel, grainy and crackery pale malt, some hard water flintiness, pine sap, and more leafy, herbal, and musky floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its structurally sound frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and generally smooth, with perhaps a touch of hop astringency exacting a minor tithe at this particular juncture. It finishes trending dry, the hops putting in the extra hours.
Overall - this is indeed another well-made example of what the Citra hop can do when it is applied with wild abandon, apparently. Crisp, flavourful, and a pleasure to throw back on a warm Sunday Spring afternoon.
