Clear brown-amber color. Poured a short head that dropped back to a patchy skiff in half a minute. Low flow of tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Left a few spots of lacing.
Strong hop smell dominates; mostly vegetal but also some floral. Some light malt and just a hint of yeast. Swirling the glass kicked up a mild barnyard that faded in just a couple of seconds, leaving more floral hops behind.
Strong hop flavor with a bit of black tea. The bitters start mild but kick up to a medium-strong as it warms up in the mouth. Some malt shows up at the same time as the stronger bitters. Very light citrus fruit. The aftertaste is mostly a bitter black tea, with a more defined citrus right at the end.
Slowly foams up with mixed size bubbles that eventually combine to form very large bubbles. Medium body. Slightly oily feel.
More malt flavor than a typical pale ale. Slightly fruity, but it is hard to distinguish which fruit. Tastes similar to the Persephone IPA; sibling ales with common black tea and most of the same hops.
