Poured from a 750mL bottle into a Teku glass. Bottled November 2017.
3.75/4.25/4.75/4.5/4.5
A: Very pale straw, lightly hazy, mostly transparent, with brief head and persistent effervescence.
S: Smells lactic, fruity, and pleasant. Hint of fruit or bubblegum, but mostly sour.
T: Fruity bubblegum indeed! The very initial taste is crisp grain and acid, but then WHAMMO! outta nowhere comes this amazingly powerful wave of fruit like a starburst. It's tart, yes, but juicy, delectable, and deep. Green apple? Balsamic strawberries. This excellent maintaste is lamentably brief, and the aftertaste is a mere echo of what came mere moments before.
M: Light, refreshing, moreish, and spritely. If you don't mind a touch of funk and grain in your champagne, you're all set.
O: Grimm continues to outperform nearly every brewery in this megalopolis. An outstanding and interesting "mostly sour" isn't so aggressively strange to put off a newcomer, but has enough deep (or maybe I just love Mosaic hops) to engage the most jaded drinkers.

Another beer from the last beer fest I ever went to, Sour Sunday 2020. This was a bretty one.

Pours a yellow that is on the brighter side with cloudiness. Dat bright cloudy day. 1/3" white head. The aroma was as if this was a fruited wild ale, but seemed to be entirely relying on a heavy brett profile and some hops. That is cool. Notes of strawberries and fruit punch.

Taste reveals just as much of a bouquet of fruitiness as the nose. Hits of lemon, fruit punch, strawberry, guava, lime, green apple. Its a chewy mouth feel and yet a very light body. Carbonation on point, I think this was poured from a bottle. Has a nice soft touch as well, they didn't amp this up into battery acid levels of sourness and acidity.

I'm told these are generally pricey in the wild, but it was a nice exposure at a festival to let me know that these might be worth the price of admission retail wise. This is a pretty well done beer even when consumed 3000 miles away fro where it was made.

Tasting this sour ale, the tartness walks right up to the line, but never crosses into excessive sourness. The hop bite intercepts you right before the line, and you're left with a delightful, light and well-blended champagne taste. Really well done!
