Grimm Artisanal Ales

 

Picked this up at Grimm right after it was released, as most of their other bottles that they've dropped recently have hit the mark. That was the case with this one too as it was easy on the palate, addicting, and intriguing when it came to it's range of flavors. Odd-colored, bubbly beers are what they do best and this was no exception as this was hard to keep in my glass for the duration of my session!

Lovely pour to this as the liquid looked like hibiscus in fluid form. A nice amount of spongy, bubbly head topped it off as it settled quite quickly and unevenly because of the big bubbles. Not a lot of lacing was left behind once the bubbles settled as the liquid was quite thin, with only a few soapy dots staying behind as I polished this off. Lots of hibiscus, raspberry tartness, acetate, and spring-like floral notes in the nose as the taste was just as light and airy. Hard to pick out the lime in this but the heavier apricot and woody notes emerged as this warmed up. Very little sediment settled at the bottom the funky yeast was pleasing on the tongue without being too wild, sour, or sharp.

This wasn't a session beer but had there been another bottle here, it would have been easy to crack it open after finishing this off. A moderate carbonation kept this light without detracting from the flavors that I loved. Once again Grimm's nailed this style while making it fun and accessible to someone who wouldn't be accustomed to an American Wild Ale. Love the label but the stuff on the inside was just as enjoyable!
