Notes:
Strata! Strata! Strata! Hyperfocus Strata! Our favorite hop of 2020–Strata is at last getting put to the Hyperfocus test. Strata has become beloved for its seemingly endless layers of complexity—bright, tropical fruits layered with peak-freshness orchard fruit layered with cannabis-driven funk. Hyperfocus Strata packs the whole color wheel of Strata into this single-hop DIPA. Juicy body that ends with a balancing grapefruit pithy bitterness.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 6/25/2020. Pours opaquely hazy/cloudy golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing and moderate streaming carbonation on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big white grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, melon, orange, strawberry, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin dryness with no hop astringency, and minimal lingering sweetness after a long lingering hoppy finish. Very smooth and nicely soft. Minimal warmth of 8% or lingering hop burn. Been a while since I had a Strata IPA, but its an awesome and unique showcase. Very juicy, vibrant, and dank hops; with a nice oat/malt backbone. Very impressive as expected of the brewery.

Slightly hazy gold. Translucent. White head. Good retention.
Smells like grapefruit, orange, mango, lemon, and iced tea.
Taste-wise, mostly mango and lemon upfront. Grapefruit, orange, and pineapple slide in afterwards. Mostly citrus-forward. A hint of the iced tea, and pine. Pretty clean. A touch of bitterness and alcohol warmth.
Medium feel, well carbonated, crushable for its abv.
A great DIPA. I have no complaints here.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a thin film of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge after it settled down.
S: Moderate aromas of mango and honeydew melon are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of strawberries in the initial taste and finishes with some hints of grapefruit.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit juicy on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA is incredibly complex for using a single hop. I really enjoyed all of the aromas and flavors from the Strata.

This one pours a murky and hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like stone fruit (peach, apricot, etc), with some weed, piney hops, and bubble gum.
This has a candied sweetness that works pretty well - bubble gum and peach, mainly. I also get a marijuana and dank bitterness here, with some pine resin. I also get some grapefruit.
This is light bodied, clean, and no really boozy at all, nicely.
Strata hops are a new one to me - they give a nice candied fruit and marijuana thing, it seems.

Can from the brewery in BL during the 2020 COVID pause. Pours an opaque dark gold with a lingering finger of white head and excellent lacing, smell is sticky citrus and pine resin, mango, hints of pineapple and coconut cotton candy, taste is light caramel cotton candy up front, mild tropical fruit bubble gum, light pith at the end, feel is medium and very smooth/creamy. My first taste of Strata, and it did not disappoint, hubba bubba in a glass.
