Poured from the bottle (no date, one-off release) into a Belgian glass
L: pours a gorgeous beet purple red (deep but not that dark) with an amazing large purple/lavender head. Fades after a minute, minimal foam on the surface just a ring around the edge. Moderate visible carbonation against the edge, beer is opaque
S: nice sour nose with a bit of earthy funk that certainly reminds me of beets. That lacto aroma mixed with the dirt aroma I get with beets - not sure I’m getting much orange zest at least at first. As it’s warmed I get more zest
T: excellent taste, with the beets and orange zest working so well together. The restrained lactobacillus sour flavor and slight orange zest bitterness (more flavor) lead, with that earthier dirt beet flavor as contrast. Very clean and crisp flavor, medium finish
F: medium/medium+ carbonation, medium/medium- body, lightly drying, light and drinkable
O: excellent light sour from Grimm, full of flavor and depth at 4.8%. Great beer for a great cause!
