16oz can purchased from the fridge as a four-pack for $21.99. Canned on 01/09/23, so this is 6 1/2 weeks old.

Look: Its's a pretty strawberry blonde color with a soft haze and spritzy carbonation. The beer has basically no head.

Smell: There's an interesting and predominant funky sour note and then there's this relatively subtle strawberry perfume aroma on the back end.

Taste: It's a very interesting beer. I'm trying to figure it out as it doesn't really resemble beer but I can see how it was inspired by the Lambic-making process. I think that I was expecting this to have more of a strawberry flavor and have just a bit more sweetness to it. It is very dry and significantly sour (which I like), but it's just a bit different from expectations. If I was tasting this blind, I might say that this is a ruby red grapefruit wild ale instead of strawberry because I think that the fruit flavor is subtle and lacks distinction. The finish has a good amount of tannic and oak barrel notes.

Feel: It's what you would expect from a spritzy 4% ABV wild ale. It's light bodied and appropriately carbonated.

Overall: As I said above, it's very interesting. I think that it would be a very refreshing summertime beer. Drinking this towards the tail end of winter, it seems a bit out of place. I also think that it's hard to taste and appreciate the subtle, unique flavor of the Oishii koyo strawberry because the sour beer flavors are quite strong. This beer reminds me a bit of Bruery Terreux's Brite - Hibiscus Lime. I preferred that beer as it was 3% ABV and was more impactful pound for pound.

From Oishii website:
This easy-drinking ale is spritzy and refreshing with complex notes of oak, juicy Koyo Berry, and lemon verbena.
