From a growler obtained at the brewery on August 20, 2016.

A very attractive reddish-dark amber pour with a modest and fading off-white head.

The aroma is full of dark sweet malts, dark fruit like plum, fig, and dates, but it has a feint alcohol note.

Full body.

The taste has a candied and dark malt sweetness with an added alcohol bite that makes me think of Bourbon barrel aging. The alcohol burn is also there. A warming finish.

Pours a deep mahogany color with a huge, fluffy cream colored head. Leaves a good amount of clingy cobweb lacing.

The aroma brings lots of dark fruits and bready malts. I get raisin and plum, and a touch of fig. Lightly tart.

The flavor starts with the bittersweet dark fruits, followed by a touch of caramel malt and bread straight out of the oven. Finishes with a mild hop bitterness.

Feel is full bodied with moderate at best carbonation. A little sticky and syrupy. Finishes with a bit of alcohol warming.

Overall, another great brew from Schilling. Very nicely balanced.

A- Deep ruby in color; like Dorothy's shoes, but more mellow and deep

S- Wonderful candy syrup that got locked away for decades and fermented. Medicinal, syrupy and phenolic.

T- Dark fruity and carmel-ly awesomeness.

M- Immediate Belgian fruitcake with a dry finish and slight warming.

This stuff is the bomb--as the Scots use single malt to ward off the oncoming cold, I choose Dr. Oovert.

Great example of this style. Light mahogany appearance with a fluffy white head. Baked bread on the nose, rich plum and date sweetness. Boozy finish was very welcome on a cold Michigan night in February. Anxious for more from this brewery in the future.

Very solid Belgian Strong offering. Poured beer was a nice brown/slightly reddish color. Smooth for a 8+% beer and had a nice balance between malts and limited hops.
